Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 18 June 2026

Our commitment

Food Ladder (ABN 89 132 323 347) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience of our websites—foodladder.org (including all subdomains) and foodladdertech.org—and applying relevant accessibility standards.

Standards we aim to meet

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as referenced by:

  • The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth, Australia);
  • The European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882);
  • Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act.

What we are doing

To ensure accessibility, we have taken the following measures:

  • Semantic HTML throughout our Sites (headings, landmarks, lists, tables);
  • Sufficient colour contrast ratios for text and interactive elements;
  • Keyboard-navigable interface—all interactive elements are reachable without a mouse;
  • ARIA labels and roles on dynamic components (menus, forms, dialogs);
  • Descriptive alt text on meaningful images;
  • Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels;
  • Form labels and error messages that are programmatically associated with their fields;
  • A cookie consent dialog that is accessible via keyboard and screen reader.

Known limitations

While we aim for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:

  • Third-party content: Embedded content from third parties (Google Maps, Raisely donation widget, YouTube) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We encourage these providers to improve accessibility and provide alternative access where possible.
  • PDF documents: Some older documents may not be fully accessible. Contact us if you need content in an alternative format.
  • Video captions: We are progressively adding captions and transcripts to video content.

Assistive technology compatibility

Our Sites are designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS);
  • Screen magnification software;
  • Speech recognition software;
  • Keyboard-only navigation.
